Well, it's slightly more complicated than just a flag :)
The listings we use are always checked for View access. I can add ether 'can_edit' bool parameter, or 'required_access' varchar or int parameter to the umo listings.

Anyways, this affects all the procedures which give us UMO listings
(umoFind, home page element listing, umoStatistics.. not sure what else)

Is it really that simple? We should still show those objects to people
with modification access to them.
