THE OLD MAN

I walked into a bar to quench my thirst.
An old man was there I didn't know him at first!
He was lookin at me I was gone say somethin wise.
But then I thought where have I seen those eyes?!
The old man hadn't been around in like thirty years.
Hell the last time I seen him I was drinkin beers!
When the barmaid came I ordered a whiskey.
That old man now started smiling at me!
I said, man seems like we know each other.
He lifted his glass and the memory's fell together!
I saw the scars on his weathered old hands.
All of a sudden I remembered the old man!
Little Joe was the name of the old man.
He played drums in one of Muddy's bands!
The scar was from when off a jack a car fell.
I heard the bones breakin but he didn't yell!
I asked him, Joe where the hell you been?
He said he been where he been ain't goin again!
Sittin at the bar I felt I was back in seventytwo.
With the man who taught me all about the Blues!
We sat there drinkin and talkin the time away.
When I got back to work I was two hours late.
I told my boss sorry but you need to understand.
But I'd do just about anything for the old man!!!...
